Monday
Cuz accompanied me to my series of medical check-up: Thanks CUZY!
1. Chest X-Ray
-This process was a lil' scary when i was getting ready for the x-ray, had to change into this yellow robe and remove everything! lols.. stop imagining! nothing much! =P
-The nurse den told me "katherine, please tie ur hair up into a bun" and started mumbling to herself...
I feel very wierd when people calls me Katherine, even tho' its another of my name... but it feels very distant.. abit formal" maybe its just ME!
-supposed to face this film thingy.. with my chin supported.. it felt like i was tip-toeing or that suddenly my neck was very long!
- so the nurse said "Breathe in" and "out", and "in" - the door closes...
-in a flash it was done!
-the intimidating part was the waiting process, it was so QUIET! i could see elderly woman walking slowly with the support of a nurse to and fro.. and some sick child..
2. Medical Examination
I had to wait for like almost 1 hr to PEE! lol.. cos part of the medical examination was the urine test.. to ensure i'm not pregnant! lols.. gosh.. next the weight and height measurements..
i'm proud to say i weigh 48.5KG! i gained 0.5kg! and my height 166.5cm.
I grew 0.5cm in 2 years! so slow.. i wished i was 168-170cm. den again.. most girls would love to have my height.. so i'm still thankful for my height!
went into the docs room... i tell u.. i sat on the chair for 5mins..
while the DOCTOR spoke to his whoever on the phone in "hokkien" no offence to anyone who speaks hokkien ah...
but he sounded like a what do u call it.. ah beng tone.
BUT he does not look like one of cos. no dyed hair. no leg on the chair. lols..
when he put down the phone.. TOTALLY PROFESSIONAL.
He went "Good day Grace!" i was taken aback man.. very nice!
did my blood pressure test.. pressed my tummy area... and then he said "say Ah!" i was like "what!" he said "ahh!!!" in my mind.. are u kidding! lols... bo bian have to listen to doc so i did.
checked my breathing.. asked me a series of questions.. one of which "do u have a tattoo?"
i said "yes.. (pause) a fake one" hee.. i'm going to get my student visa in 5-10 days! can't wait~!!!
After these examinations, we went to the ice-cream vendor outside taka to get our ICE-CREAM, perfect for a sunny HOT really HOT and Humid day!
okay picture this;
-in front of ngee ann civic plaza,
-the big open space,
-where the "fountain" is
We were sitting on the steps facing the Taka Shopping mall. We were happily eating our ice-cream and finishing it. We were approached by this salesman selling the Marie France package thingy.. i'm sure most girls would have been approached to buy this package at $39.90 den u get free this and that.. supposedly "value-for-money!"
So he started selling us the package, what it consists of.. yadadada.. so we said we were not interested.. came up with the excuse "cos we are going overseas to study" and den he said " why not get it for ur mother, sister" we said nah its ok.
He started to have a small chat us... so how are u both related "brother , sisters?" or "sisters", "best friends" i was like thinking "wth.. bro and sister?" who looked like the bro!!! gosh.. we are cousins! oh okie.. he replied. oh another question " are u both 21yrs?" we went "aww.. no we are not" he said "Are u sure?" gave us the "i'm sure they are bluffing me look".. maybe next year u can come find us.. lols.. he went on saying "if next yr still have la" haha.. we were just saying.. so he went on saying "i was thinking maybe both of u might be 22-23yrs old" the conversation was getting irritating.. first say us 21 never mind.. then now.. we look more like 22-23yrs! go away la!
5-10mins later... another guy who dressed and carried the same file like the other came over. We shooked our hands and said we are not 21 yet.. haha.. his mouth jaws "dropped a lil" oh my colleague have already approached u issit? doh! so he asked any idea where he went. both of us pointed "that way".. so depressing.. DO lydia and i look that kind of age? not saying those people at that age are old or what la.. just that we don want to look "lao"..
Pre-Departure Seminar - University of Queensland
At 630pm, met my mom and dad at Hilton Hotel for the seminar...
in the beginning, the presentation of university of queensland "i was awestrucked"
Seriously.. the campus was so beautiful.. different from every sch in singapore.
many times bigger than Singapore campuses..
after which, Ms Larney gave a presentation of the pre-departures checklist etc...
they recommend students to arrive at least 3 weeks earlier than the school term, in which there are several programmes in line.. such as the Getting Started, where you can set-up ur local bank a/c, find your local goceries store, yadadad, find accomodation etc... and then 2nd week there is Academic preparation program, get to know the university expectations, teaching method, etc... most of the advisors strongly recommend students to go for this session. it starts on the 11th to the 14th of july. And the 3rd week, UQ orientation from the 18th July. and 25th SCHOOL STARTS!
BAD NEWS
means.. if i were to go i would miss my GRADUATION DAY in TP. the moment that i've been waiting for. And i would leave Singapore earlier than expected.. supposedly 16th of July. If i go, i need to leave on the 8th July a night flight. i guess this is something i need to think abt it.. my parentals have given me alot of decisions to make by myself.. something that i've to learn to do sooner or later.
In addition, going for the seminar and listening to those who have been there said "it took them 6 months to adapt to Brisbane" i was thinking "oh my goodness that's superbly long!" the culture shock, the weather adaption, the environment, friends of different nationalities, and lecture and teaching methods, handling my own finances, food, clothes. Come to think of it.. i am already going to miss all my friends, family and cousins here so soo much!!!
I saw a very extremely pretty Yellow jacket from Esprit that i could use in Brisbane. Rang my mom up to ask her to see it, maybe she could get for me mah~! but she said "you got at least 10 jackets at home oready" in my mind.. i don tink so la.. So when i got home, went straight to my waredrobe and to my astonishment, there were 10 jackets!!! wahahaha.. donno what sparked me.. perhaps my shopaholic tendencies.. "mom, i don have a yellow jacket!" lols.. spoilt i am. haha.. i have blue, denim, green, grey, off-white, red, white-pink, light blue jackets... hais... looks like no more yellow jacket for me.
