TPSU Students' Elections
Hi all, i'll be running for the 3rd time to SERVE you once again. Believe in Me! Vote Grace for ur TP Exco!
unfortunately i cannot use this for the 3rd time, my time in TP has ended. i am a graduate. hee yeah!
however, i am sure that most of you have heard the latest news that have already created a stir in TP, elections posters are hung all around the school.. this period is prolly the school's MOST noisest season.
i can't help but recall those seasons, where i once fought to have a place in TPSU Exco. As everyone knows the challenge is intense. Every support vote is needed.
Last year, as i was having my student internship at Raffles which will take 6 months out of my office term. I had to make a decision whether to stand for elections, i knew for the fact that i was already an exco and that year would be my 2nd yr, the obstacles, the sacrifices, the commitment and loyalty, the responsibility, the satisfaction. all these have never been clearer.
I knew exactly what i was getting myself into. Definitely, running as a main com you need the stamina, cos its not just one or two projects its a whole office term of 1 year that requires assistance of perhaps 15 projects? I knew i need to work with different people with different train of thoughts and works differently. Becos i am aware that these are what is ahead of me and i can cope. i signed up to run for TPSU exco.
Campaigning, as most of my hospi friends are working hard at work, i could only rely on my ex-exco such as jacq and ken to help me with it. I designed the posters, sent it for printing and hanged it all over the schools; BUS, ITAS, DES, ENG.. that's the most i could do. Let my posters do the talking!
Risky i know, cos my presence is not seen around school, students may not know who i am. But no choice, was working day shift that started at 7am to 4+pm. Come polling dates, i was so worried that no one knew i existed.. but i had no choice haha.. just to keep worrying. ha oh wells..
But when results come out, i got i tink the 4th place. i couldn't believe. but i Thank God and all for supporting me.
But that is not over, immediately meetings after meetings were scheduled to plan for the new project year.. thereafter the planning and execution of projects. During these time, i have to shuttle back and forth to school to work to home. tiring, exhausting. but i never gave up, cos its a matter of responsibility. if i hadn't done my job, the rest of my fellow excos will have a difficult time. The worst thing of being in exco is when ur fellow members MIA = missing in action. All their work have to be delegated, the project process slows down. Honestly, i hated it. If you are busy don take up the job and say "okie".
Know your priorities is under key issue. If you are running for TPSU exco, alot of time is needed to be put in SU. Please do not come and say you need to work, cos Boss cannot find replacement yadadadadA... cos my priorities were set right from the beginning. God;Studies (SIP); TPSU; Family.
As a student leader, leading by example is crucial. Not saying i am a good person to follow. Perhaps i just do things that i deem right by my own principles. Hurling vulgarities in english, chinese or hokkien just seems so wrong especially in school. If you have a project and need sub-com to help, please lead by example not sit down and instruct. Being an exco does not mean you are the King of the school. No one needs to bow or wallow themselves. Cos, you are who you are because of them. Remember that. Leaders lead as well as listen.
To all that are running i hope u take my above writings into consideration. And Good Luck!
For those who are voting, do not vote becos u tink she is pretty or he is handsome. Vote becos you know and trust that they will what they have promised to do.
Memories in Temasek poly will never fade, as everything has only made me stronger. I am afraid the journey has just started for me. perhaps i shld join the university of queensland singapore student union??? *wahahahahahahAAAhhaaa
