hey there everyone!!!!!!!!!

i'm in a Very VERY VERY GOOD mood ever since the call i received on thursday. Finally, i'm being called up to go for an interview with Raffles Hotel. *sign of relief

Before that, u can ask everyone around me. My mood was not very good, cos kinda worried abt my SIP placements. Sent to a couple but at that moment only Ritz Carlton replied. but the interview would only take place on the 29th March, a long time more. In addition, alot of Director's Honour List students are being called up. i was even comtemplating on going into an events company, not that its not good or whatever, just that i would like to experience hotel working lifestyle. SO on thursday, at 825pm. RAFFLES HOTEL HR officer called me, asking me to go down for an interview! *at that point of time i was sOo sOoo sOooo happy that my face just automatically blushed! i was really relieved.. cos for the past week, i have been questioning myself, "did i write the wrong address?", "did i write anything wrong?", "what did i do?" questions of doubts... but i thought to myself, i couldn't be that my coverletter and resume was wrong, cos Ritz Carlton replied me. So... couldn't be wrong with coverletter nor resume, cos i wrote almost the same thing. *scratches my head.

So i scheduled for an interview for Friday 1130am. Got my portfolio ready, my suit ironed perfectly, suitcase ready and started doing some last minute checks abt Raffles hotel. I was so excited abt the interview, that i dreamed abt Raffles hotel in my sleep... ah how corny right? Woke up early, dressed up, double-checks on everything and took a cab down. Was late, reach Raffles abt 1140am. Meaning 10mins late! ah... how could i~!

He interviewed me abt 30mins ++ in the HR office, the people there kinda friendly, greeted me Good Morning. haha! so cool... the room was packed with awards on Best Service, Best Team, Company's mission and goals etc... typical corporate culture. He asked me alot of questions, really alot. The last question he asked me was "what would u do to convince me that we should hire you?" a very simple question but tricky! At that point of time, i answered "I have the passion, drive and i want to bring smiles to all Raffles' customer". He nodded his head and said "Well-Said"... but being a typical Grace, i just had to spoil it all and say "i can't just say and u wouldn't noe for sure, why don u hire me and find out?" --> WOoh.. after i said this.. i said to myself.. "Oh nO, made a big gamble!"

After which, asked me what positions were i interested in. I said Front office operations. somewhere that i can interact with guests. Kenna Bang! He said "throughout Raffles Hotel history, the front desk ppl are ALL guys" -- from the beginning tat is 1887 till now... it has always and will always be male only. SExists i feel~! well.. its okie.. He said "If i were to offer u a job now, would u accept it?" i said it gotta depends on what he wants to offer me. he said residence service and f & b. Cos Raffles hotel is all suites room. that is at least $650, $3000, $4000,$5000 per night. So residence service is somehow kinda similar to Butler service. Unique right? something uncommon in Singapore. Well.. he continued to explain what is it all abt, he said u could go as low as buying food for ur guest under ur care or as high as organising and aliasing with relevant party abt events or others. Some were even offered jobs at their company. He warned me" it's 10times more challenging than being at the Front Desk Operations" We discussed abt serveral other issues, such as training programmes, monthly allowance etc...

At 610pm that same day, after consulting alot of ppl (my mom, cousin lyd, senior john, Mr Joseph and several other advisors) whether or not to accept the once in a lifetime opportunity. Pray and asked God to help me with the decision.
I said "YES, i'll take up the challenge!"
